Commissioning Guide

Automated assembly line solutions

Before specifying automated assembly line solutions, resolve how a failed assembly is diverted, which tolerance extremes run at acceptance, and which handover items the owner still owns. This guide is a procurement dossier. It is not an engineering stamp, a compliance certificate or a promise that SAT will pass on the first visit.

Questions to resolve

Questions to resolve
Decision point Evidence or question
Questions to resolve: Sample run Which stations need independent dwell rather than synchronous indexing, and will the sample lot include minimum and maximum component tolerances? How is a failed assembly diverted while its processing history stays attached?
Site readiness Are three-phase supply, compressed air demand, cooling water, footprint, work envelope and PLC interface confirmed in writing? Who supplies installation labor, extraction and training hours?
Owner acceptance What FAT/SAT duration, product variants, data export and spare parts kit close handover? Who owns recipe changes after SAT? One station certificate does not cover the line.

Architecture choice belongs here, not in a slogan. Synchronous cam-driven assembly can be the right solution when every station can index together. Independently controlled shuttles can be the right solution when dwell times diverge. Neither is “more automated” until the reject path and genealogy are specified. Public platform documents discuss meters per second, millimeters of track width, kilograms of pallet payload and millimeters of positional accuracy; copy those units into the RFQ and ask each factory to fill them for your duty, instead of pasting a brochure peak into the PO.

Solutions also fail when software access is omitted. If vision recipes and PLC tags cannot be edited after SAT, a later SKU is a paid revisit. If spare parts for nests and belts are not listed, the first changeover waits on freight. If the budget is optional, still state currency and whether the number is per line or per station so factories do not mix scales. Preference for premium, mid-range or budget-friendly manufacturers is a search filter, not a quality certificate. Continue with the traceable good-parts article or open the catalog inquiry cards.
